Half Birthday.
Lily had her 6 month birthday on January 11. She is seriously the happiest baby on the planet. She hardly ever fusses, and she takes everything we throw at her in stride. I can only hope that she remains this easy-going her entire life. She is doing pretty good at strengthening her core, but can’t quite sit unassisted. She pushes herself up on her front arms, and can push her way backwards, but hasn’t figured out how to crawl forward yet. But, that doesn’t mean she doesn’t get around – she has mastered the art of rolling. While she has had a few days where teeth were giving her trouble, they have all receded, leaving her with the most adorable toothless grin. She laughs at her silly brother, and gets really excited when she sees him. She loves her daycare friends and teachers. We are going to start working some solid foods into her diet after her doctor appointment in a couple weeks. She has tasted a bit of ice cream (she loved it, so she must be my daughter). She also tried a bit of Vegemite and surprisingly didn’t seem to mind it. Ty, on the other hand, tried it and didn’t like it. I gag when I smell the stuff. But, since we are living in the land of Oz, and she can’t be considered a true Aussie baby unless she requests Vegemite with every meal, we thought we would try it out. She didn’t start screaming, just stuck her tongue out, licked her lips, and didn’t turn her head away when Jay gave her a second taste. Here is Miss Lily’s 6 month owl picture.
Roo Wounds.
Ty’s kangaroo battle wounds are healing up nicely. We have been applying antiseptic cream several times a day. He giggles when I put it on, says it tickles. Thank goodness it doesn’t sting!
Style.
I am still trying to figure out the style here. One observation I have made is that when people go to eat at the marina, a lot of times the lady is dressed to impress, with a cute dress, heels, and her hair and makeup all done up. But the dude comes to dinner in board shorts. No worries.
Boat.
We are still trying to settle on a price for the boat. Unfortunately the repair bill estimate was a lot more than the owner and we were expecting. Fixing everything should give it a good 10 years, some things have to be done immediately or I wouldn’t feel safe taking the kids out on the water. I just don’t want to pay the bulk of the repair bill, and the owner doesn’t want to pay for the repairs and not get anything out of it. It will probably take 2-3 weeks to fix everything, so if we get it, we won’t be on the water for a while yet. :(. Will keep you posted on the progress…
