Pools.
Ty had swim lessons Saturday morning at 7:30. Jay, Lily and I were all sweating like crazy – usually the morning lessons are great because it isn’t too hot yet. Not today… Ty has floating and swimming to the bottom of the pool down pat. I think all he needs to do to move to the next level is figure out the proper kicking technique. He does a bicycle kick instead of a swim kick.
So we thought we better go practice at the big pool since he doesn’t need his life jacket. And it was hot, so we could all use a dip in the pool. There were lots of people there, which was fun for Ty. A bunch of the kids were playing with the sinkers that we brought. I love to hear him say “Do you want to play with me?” We only stayed for about an hour because I could feel myself starting to burn (in the water with heaps of sunscreen on).
This is what an Aussie heat wave and lots of swimming does to my boys.
I got Lily signed up for 6 month swim lessons. She starts January 25. I figure since we are at the pool every weekend for Ty, and are going to be doing water activities for the next 2 years, best to get her in and comfortable in the water. She might be swimming before she crawls…
And More Pool.
After naps we were still really hot. No better way to cool off than to jump in the pool. Ty didn’t wear his life jacket in the hot tub this time (we were always right by his side) because he wanted to pick toys up off the bottom of the pool. He did awesome! Took him a while to figure it out because the hot tub is deeper than swim lessons and the big pool, but once he figured it out he was golden. He swam across the hot tub without our help, even coming up for a breath and going back under. You can watch the video on my Facebook page.
Sorry we didn’t do too much exciting stuff today, just way too stinking hot!
