Lily wanted to see a few things in the Dubai Mall, so we spent Saturday wandering around again. We couldn’t pass by the Aquarium without a visit. I failed to do any research and just bought a ticket. I thought it was just an entrance ticket but apparently it included a glass bottom boat ride.

We were a little confused why we needed to wear life jackets to walk through the aquarium. Ohhhhhh it’s a boat ride!
No rapids, no speedboat. Just sharks (a lot of them).
We walked into one area and parrots flew right over our heads. See that little stinker in the background laughing at us.
Well hello there, long lost cousin.
This was pretty cool to see – 2 seahorses holding tails
Next stop was the Arte Museum. The Flower room smelled amazing and was b-e-a-utiful!
The waterfall room was amazing.

Check out Lily’s video of the waterfalls! https://youtube.com/shorts/-LPm5KeS568?si=A3sc-OlNGwNb2CUl

The waves were crashing all around.
Lily colored a dolphin, scanned it into the computer…

And then we watched her artwork come to life on the screen! https://youtube.com/shorts/ZKJB2sTPTvU?si=oNF7cEYEJe8HXk-k

We had dinner at Atmosphere on the 123rd floor of the Burj Khalifa. Not quite the top, but close.
The atmosphere was 5 stars.

Unfortunately the food was 3-stars. Limited menu, which is fine, but then I expect each dish to be incredible- especially for the $$$. I’m not sure I would recommend it to others. Save your dining money and just get a ticket to At The Top to see the views.

The dessert was the best part. https://youtube.com/shorts/a4Wdfs-8j3A?si=BZsz6gDuJucH6lhB

We are staying at a VRBO right next to the Burj Khalifa, overlooking the Dubai Fountains. It’s a perfect location. We can watch the fountain show from our balcony. We were so lucky to see the last shows before they closed it down for renovations. https://youtube.com/shorts/R8qMEk_wLH8?si=-Wc8RhKJ19-0ke0Q

The Burj Khalifa puts on an incredible light show several times a night – over 1.2 million LED lights! https://youtube.com/shorts/cdFX7FgHC50?si=9Yv0lDYVM3OCdu0s

Have you seen pictures of the Dubai Frame? It’s kind of random, seemingly in the middle of nowhere right next to the highway. We didn’t go inside.
We spent Sunday in the Old Town. So. Much. Gold.
Unfortunately now is about the worst time to buy gold, so Ty’s hopes of getting a gold chain were crushed. He did, however, learn about economics, the flight to quality, gold standard, and buy low/sell high.
I can’t even imagine the price tag on these. Rows and rows of shops full of gold.
The spice market area smelled amazing
I loved the lights that were in many of the shops
We hopped on a water taxi to visit the Al Fahidi area.
The whole neighborhood was full of buildings that looked like this. Again, felt like a Disney movie set.
Fantastic salt and pepper shakers
We failed to give our kids a proper Easter egg hunt, but we tried to make up for it with a Camel Milk Chocolate instead. Do you eat the legs or the head first?
While we are off exploring, Kaycee’s favorite friend, Vivalda, is spoiling him rotten (and making adorable GIFs).
