Aladdin.
He made it through the ENTIRE movie. I have no idea how – the kid was so stinking tired, but he toughed it out.
Airport.
We woke up early so we could be on the road by 6:00 to pick up Uncle Rickey at the airport. We waited for what seemed like forever. The sign we made for Rickey didn’t last too long. Ty wanted to draw on the iPad while we waited, but it was fun while it lasted.
He finally arrived!! We were all so excited to see him!
Everything went pretty smooth for him, just really super long. He kept saying, “I can’t get over how much water there is – 14 HOURS!”
Role Model.
Even though it was freezing (probably 60 degrees), Rick couldn’t wait to “role model” his new board shorts and flip flops.
Straddy.
We went to the marina to pick up groceries before heading out on the boat. Didn’t want to mess with having to rush home to get to the store. Then, we all put on our warm clothes and coats and went for a boat ride. The benefit of going out on the water when it is “freezing” in Australia is that nobody else goes out. The water was really smooth, despite the wind. The kids fell asleep on the ride out, so Rick and I got to ride in the bow. We were cruising along the Broadwater and saw heaps of dolphins!! There were probably a dozen or so – have never seen that many! So cool.
We got to Couran just in time to catch the last tram over to the surf side of the island. I think Rickey’s mind was blown. It really is the most beautiful beach. I thought it would be windy and cold, but it was actually the best day to be there. The water was just rolling in, nice, smooth waves – much calmer than normal. No wind. Cool temps, but warm sun. We found done great new shells. I think Rick could have stayed there all day.
Unfortunately we needed to hurry up and eat a quick late lunch, then roll out to beat the sunset. We made it, with not a lot of time to spare before the sun went down.

Rick was starting to feel the jet lag, so he called it a night around 6:30. I hope he is able to sleep all night! I’m about done, as well. I didn’t sleep well last night – too excited. I can hear my mother’s voice ringing in my mind as I hobble around the house tonight… “Take it easy – don’t hurt your back.” Too late… :(. We had a great day, so stinking happy to have my brother here. G’day mates!
