Ty.
Well shoot. Around 3:00 Friday afternoon Jay got a call from daycare that Ty wasn’t himself and said he didn’t feel good. Jay and I started packing up our things to go get him, and they called again to say he had puked. We rushed to pick him up. I decided that since we have been having all of these potty accidents and he now was vomiting, we better get him checked out by a doctor. I carried him into the clinic and as I was checking him in he was acting sickly again. Quickest way to get a kid seen by a doctor is for him to look like he’s about to puke.
He had a temp of about 101.3 and was clinging to me. We had a different doctor this time, a lady, who seemed much more competent. His ears, throat, chest all were good. She tested a urine sample for a urinary tract infection. The quick test was normal but she is sending it to a lab to make sure. Won’t have results until Monday, though.
As we were wrapping up, I asked him if anything else hurt and he said his back did. She pressed on his lower back and he winced. She said if he complains a lot about it tonight to take him to the hospital. Coincidentally, I have an appointment with the same doctor in the morning. She wants me to bring Ty back in for another look. As I was picking him up to leave, he puked, all over me and him and the carpeted floor (still think it is nasty that the doctors office has carpeted floors, for exactly this reason!).
He took some medicine to bring his fever down, and we sat on the cot for a bit until he felt like leaving. We have been taking it easy on the couch and in the toy room, giving him crackers and a little juice about every 20 minutes. He is majorly bummed because we were going to go on a buggy ride tonight to look at Christmas lights. And tomorrow we were going to have the Torrey’s over for dinner, but that isn’t looking good now. :(. We will see how he feels.
Sick kids are the worst. Sorry this wasn’t a fun blog post, mostly just writing to inform the grandmas. 😦
