Christmas lunch.
Today we had our department Christmas lunch. It was a very informational meal for me. I learned about Christmas Poppers, which are these cardboard things that you pull apart to open (make a loud pop) and inside is a cheap trinket and a joke of similar quality to Laffy Taffy.

Ours all had tissue paper crowns and a heart shaped plastic bookmark. Yes, everyone wore their crowns. My joke was…What does an acrobat like to drink?

Anything in a tumbler…. Wah wah….

We had chicken, baked potatoes, salad, slice of bread, and spicy stuffed olives. For dessert, they had Christmas Fruit Pudding. Hmmmm…wasn’t like the chocolate pudding I know and love… Had raisins (sultanas), dates, and I think some rum. It was OK, but I only ate half. Here is what it looks like (note the traditional popper in the background.

I also learned that we have to put 2 things on our shopping list: Zooper Doopers (freeze pops) and Milo (Nestle Quik).

Boat Update.
The boat process is still in the works. We paid a deposit, now we are waiting on a test drive (Jay is doing that Saturday morning) and a mechanical inspection. Everyone is closing up shop for Christmas so we can’t get it inspected until the week of Jan. 6. Jay has to take a BoatSafe course before he can get his license. We have been reading the course book – lots of things to think about…winds, maintenance, safety procedures, tides…and I’m only on chapter 2. Interesting stuff! We also bought a book with maps of the waterways along the coast. We checked out the BCF store (boat camp fish) and bought a “chart plotter”, which is basically a GPS. I can’t wait to get out on the water!!
